Journey to the Lotus Flower

The Journey to the Lotus Flower (Xou, 2026). Works on paper

A few minutes to convince you that there are lessons that we could learn about the lotus flower that you are not aware of...yet.

1. Unlearning “they are the mud; you are the lotus”

Although I understand the context of the distinction, it is worth knowing that the mud is actually where the seed of the lotus resides and therefore causes the growth of the lotus. So instead of giving other people influence over the growth of your life, own your power to bloom because isn’t it beautiful to own your life, thinking that you are the one in control; the mud, the lotus, and the water where the lotus floats?

2. Understanding that you are the mud

In relation to the first part, understanding that we are the mud is to have the wisdom that nothing is actually below you, and you’re not above anyone else.

I would like you to think about it this way:

Certain things happen in your life where things go in ways you don’t want them to, or someone causes you pain that affects your mental turbulence and makes your mind run volatile. That’s when viewing that YOU are the mud comes in, instead of giving that role to people and experiences that are only meant to be felt by you.

Because at the end of the day, you can spend your time blaming external circumstances and still be left with the life that you alone are responsible for. The more you disregard this truth, the harder it is to work on your growth and make your life bloom to the fullest.

3. The lotus that blooms from the muddy water

The emergence of the lotus flower from the muddy water often serves as a metaphor and has its own place in the scriptures of many spiritual practices, presenting that it is possible to rise above the mental turbulence and suffering that you have in your life, attaining great enlightenment and the peace that you have within you despite the difficulties that you are suffering from.

4. Muddy water where the lotus floats

If you are in a phase of your life where everything feels like it is nothing but suffering after suffering, I hope you don’t forget who you truly are and disregard the truth that you are no different from the lotus flower that floats beautifully on muddy water rather than being drowned by it.

A gentle reminder that you have the ability to live beyond the suffering, discover that there’s a place waiting for you where your peace resides, and where growth can be found. To someone who’s reading this, I hope you find your way.
